GIVE JOY FORWARD
NIKE APP HOLIDAY, APLA
To promote the Nike App in the APLA markets during the Holiday season, we created the idea of Giving Joy Forward through movement, which inspires and motivates. This dance performance was incredible to see come to life, and the clothing changes were physical, not digital, which was really challenging but ridiculously fun and effective. Directed by James Lees and shot on 16mm film.

With video games becoming more realistic (even for way back then) the emotion that players were putting into them and getting out of them was also very real. This campaign got to the heart of that.

HALO 5
ONLINE EXPERIENCE
The Master Chief is alive, but is he good or evil? Enter Sgt. Locke, a disciplined Spartan who's orders are to find Chief and take him down.
For the launch of the highly anticipated HALO 5 we were asked to create an online experience to help fuel the fire of mistrust and confusion that the two conflicting launch spots began. We provided the ravenous HALO fans with exclusive story insights and game footage that kept the confusion high.

SUNSET OVERDRIVE
ONLINE EXPERIENCE
Sunset Overdrive is an intentionally totally ridiculous game. We were tasked with creating an immersive online experience that was also totally ridiculous. Walter's Workshop is just that–a virtual bunker where you can shoot weapons from the game that we actually built! Choose your weapon, your target and BOOM!

RYSE
ONLINE EXPERIENCE
A deep storyline plays out in this new game title featuring Marius, the Son of Rome. While devastating legions of foes his motives become unclear and his allegiance shifts. Our job was to create a pre-launch online campaign to build tension around his virtue and then an online experience that showed off his brutal abilities as well as showcasing more aspects of the game.

SNOWBOARDING
PRINT CATALOGS / ADS
Ok I know, there is a lot on this page, but I was feeling nostalgic and I am really proud of this stuff. Being able to produce so much work was awesome. Everyone involved worked really hard–the riders, photographers, board builders–we all had the passion to make everything as rad as we could.

SNOWBOARD GRAPHICS
The early years of snowboarding were an epic time. It was underground and we were total underdogs. I fell in love with it through skateboarding and devoted over two decades to it's daily adventures. Matt Cummins asked me to draw this board graphic (at the top of the page) which brought together our collective love of all things rad. Up until this point snowboard graphics were pretty geometric and "ski" looking. We loved skateboarding with pros like Neil Blender and Chris Miller who drew their own graphics, so we did the same and just kept at it! I went on to work for Lib Tech and Gnu and did plenty of other boards, most of which are shown here but not all.
Oh and I got to do one for my buddy Josh Dirksen's Salomon pro model too!
Not shown; my Joy Ride flower pot graphic, wish I still had one of those.

SAVIER / LIB TECH
PRINT / DECKS
I've been in love with skateboarding for 4 decades and i'm still convinced it's the raddest thing ever. I have the ultimate respect for what it has created and achieved on it's own terms.
This work here is a tiny drop in the ocean of skateboarding but one that i'm stoked to have been part of none-the-less.
Savier, long dead now, had some amazing team riders at this time and I just wanted to do right by them.
Lib Tech snowboards made a skateboard and we launched it, trying not to stick out too hard.

JAZZ RADIO
REBRAND
KMHD had just joined forces with Oregon Public Broadcasting and needed a fresh new look. The problem was that there is nothing all that fresh or new when it comes to an old funky radio station that plays jazz, especially in this current entertainment culture. But that was the fun part because JAZZ and RADIO speak for themselves: two iconic forms of expression and communication. These basic but powerful elements together made KMHD stand for something undeniably real, JAZZ RADIO.

ECO LIFESTYLE BRAND
LOOKBOOK / GRAPHICS
Livity was a small boutique eco-fashion brand with big ideals. All of its pieces were designed and manufactured using organic, recycled, upcycled, hemp, natural dyes, etc. in factories that also upheld these virtues. Back in 2005 Livity's progressive solutions to the world's toxic garment manufacturing industry helped pioneer new eco options that are finally becoming commonplace now. Good stuff! My contribution was brand direction and design for this lookbook and some apparel graphics. It was cool to see some real alternative solutions to such a toxic industry.

CASUAL RHYTHMS, HARMONIOUS LIFESTYLES
MUSIC
As long as I'm showing creative projects that i've been involved with, I have to mention this. Elite Beat is six of us who make as much music as we can together. We have one rule: the band can't be a pain in the ass for anyone involved. We have no agenda other than to create "casual rhythms and harmonious lifestyles". It's been 10 years now and we are all still totally in love with each other, the music we make and how we go about making it.
Oh and we made some cassette tapes just cuz ya gotta. They're so nice to touch.
BY LEE LEATHERMAN
BRAND LOGO DESIGN
Lee is a true waterman who surfs a lot and shapes a lot of boards! His shaping concepts are all very classic and yet also totally progressive. I've tried to convey that same intention with these logos.
That blue board with the orange stripe is one that Lee shaped for me. It's an asymsetrical-half thruster-twin thing that was totally alien to me but in all my 30 years of surfing I have to say I've never ridden anything as fun!

GRASSROOTS ACTIVISM
Nasty Women Get Shit Done!!
From their website; NWGSDPDX emerged to actively resist the xenophobia, racism, misogyny, ableism, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic, anti-Earth platform and policies of the new administration.
I was stoked to be asked to help design this flag! It was a true collaborative effort by a very passionate group of women dedicated to doing everything they can to help protect these values, educate and empower.
With proceeds from the sale of signs and decals they have been able to donate over $25,000 to immigration rights, homelessness, and transgender causes, and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon!! Their message continues to resonate around the world.
HEALTHY WATERS
PUBLICATION
This publication was close to my heart, it was a publication for students in Oregon grades 6-12. It's purpose was to connect them with water in a casual but informative way. It featured info and facts as well as stories about teachers and students from around Oregon who were doing involved hands-on conservation projects. A totally inspiring bunch of folks.
